Why MINIs?

Why do we choose to drive MINI Coopers? There really isn’t one answer to that, but let me try to explain it to those who don’t know.

I have had Buster for about five years now, and I still look back at him in the parking lot and smile. When I have a meeting on the 2nd floor of a building in town I take the elevator up to the 5th floor so I can look down and see his roof graphics. When someone says “awesome car!” in a parking lot I don’t turn around to look who they are talking to, I just reply “Thanks!” and start telling them all about him. Sometimes I intentionally take the back roads just to have some fun, even when it makes me late to where I am going.

If you read these comments and don’t “get it”, or think I am weird, then it is you who doesn’t get it. Fortunately, there is a cure for that, buy a MINI!

Yes, they are fun to drive, way more fun than you might think. Yes, there is plenty of room in them, we took a two-week trip up to OK City, turned left on Route 66, went all the way to the end, turned around and tent camped at National Parks all the way back. Everything we needed for that trip including tent, queen size air mattress, gas stove, gas grill, blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, groceries, and much more all fit in that MINI cooper.

Could I have done that same exact trip in a Tahoe or Explorer? Sure, but would I have? Probably not. The MINI makes me want to find places to go, no other vehicle in almost forty years has done that.
